Hyderabad: The police on Thursday rescued as many as 94 children belonging to Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal States who were brought to Hyderabad to work as bonded labourers in different industries in Old City by agents. Acting on a tip-off, the Government Railway Police (GRP) teams cordoned off Secunderabad railway station and checked the Falaknuma Express when it arrived at platform no. 8.

The railway police found the children in three coaches. “No agent was accompanying them. The traffickers lured them with jobs and sent them to city,” the police said. The children who were aged between 14 and 18 years did not have any addresses or contact numbers with them, the police said.

Earlier this week, the Gopalpuram Police in a joint operation with the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) rescued around 88 children from Janmabhoomi Express at Secunderabad railway station. The rescued children were sent to different State Homes in the city.
