Hyderabad: Six persons, including five women, were arrested on Tuesday in connection with kidnapping of an eight-month-old boy from here. The infant, who was abducted on the intervening night of October 29 and 30 while he was asleep besides his mother on a footpath at Lakdi-ka-Pool here, was rescued, the police said.
The five accused were identified as - U Nagaraju, J Lavanya, Tabassum, Sirisha, Shaik Parveen and Swapna – the police said, adding that efforts were on to catch two other accused absconding in the case. “Lavanya's younger sister had earlier given birth to two female babies.
From the third pregnancy, she gave birth to twin baby girls,” the police said in a release. Lavanya, who shares a close bond with her younger sister, thought that her sister’s in-laws would harass her for giving birth to girls once again. “The doctors had told that one of the twin girls was suffering from ill health and Lavanya gave the baby girl to an organisation.
She lied to her sister’s in-laws that one of the twins is a boy, but has serious health problems and is undergoing treatment,” the police said. “She then started preparing to adopt a baby boy. However, about a week ago, one Parveen hatched a plan to kidnap the son of one Bhagya, for which Lavanya agreed to give Rs 10,000 to them (those involved in the plan).
As per the plan, when Bhagya was sleeping along with her son on the footpath, the accused lifted the child and handed him over to Lavanya and Raju,” they said. Following a complaint, Nampally Police registered a kidnapping case and two special teams were formed to trace the kidnapped child.
The special teams examined the CCTV footages and clinched vital clues. During the investigation, identity of one of the offenders was established. After that, the accused was taken into custody, other offenders were identified.
