Eluru: Three labourers died and seven others were injured when an autorickshaw they were travelling in rammed into a parked lorry near Satyanaranapuram village of Denduluru mandal on National Highway in the early hours of Thursday.

According to police, nine labourers boarded an autorickshaw at Gundugolanu to go to work at a fish plant in Madepalli village of Eluru rural mandal. When the over-loaded autorickshaw reached the outskirts of Satyanarayanapuram village on Chennai-Kolkata National Highway, the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit a parked lorry.

Three persons, Kali Prabhakar (40), Sappa Srinivas (42), Maradani Ramu (44), died on the spot. Ogirala Ramesh (30), Matta Babji (35), Kurma Dharmayya, Lakshman, Rajendra, Gangaraju, autorickshaw driver Kali Raj Kumar (23) sustained serious injuries in the incident.

Denduluru SI M Subhash along with his personnel reached to the spot after being alerted by passersby and shifted the injured to Eluru Government Hospital. As the condition of two injured persons, Ogirala Ramesh and Matta Babji, was serious, doctors referred them to Guntur Government Hospital for better treatment.
