A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death, in a drunken brawl gone wrong at a bar near Gajjvalli Vari Cheruvu her on Monday. According to one town police, Edari Suryachandra Rao alias Suri (28) was stabbed in the neck by one of his friends who accompanied him to the bar.

Eluru: A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death, in a drunken brawl gone wrong at a bar near Gajjvalli Vari Cheruvu her on Monday. According to one town police, Edari Suryachandra Rao alias Suri (28) was stabbed in the neck by one of his friends who accompanied him to the bar.

Suri along with his friends came to Shiva Bar at around 7 am and started consuming liquor. It started as banter but soon heated arguments arose, which turned into an ugly brawl and in a fit of rage, one of his friends stabbed Suri in the neck with a broken bottle.

He was rushed to government hospital, where he succumbed to injury. Suri, a resident of Navabpet Colony ekes out a living as dancer at village fairs. A divorcee, he is survived by a daughter.

More than the death, bars being opened from 7 am caused furor in city. While it has been mandated that bars and wine shops should be opened after 11 am but that wasn’t the case.

Addressing media persons SP Bhaskar Bushan said that they will crack down on the erring shops. Deputy Superintendent of Police Saritha, who visited the scene of crime, said that they have submitted a report against the bar to the higher authorities and are waiting for a go ahead to take action.
