Hyderabad: After receiving inputs from the central security agencies that terrorists may strike in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and others, the city police on Tuesday conducted a cordon and search operation in the Old City and detained 115 suspects, including 15 Myanmar nationals.

Nearly 500 policemen, under the supervision of South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana, commenced the operation at 5 am on Tuesday. They searched various localities of Chandrayangutta, Hafeezbaba

Nagar, Ghouse Nagar, Barmani Colony, Falaknuma, Santhoshnagar and other areas, and detained 115 suspects, including 15 Myanmar nationals who were illegally staying in India. The detained persons were taken to the respective police

stations to check their background. The police also seized 80 bikes and 12 cars, which were in possession of various persons without valid documents. The operation has helped the police to bust an illegal animal meat smuggling racket and arrested a few persons. It was learnt that the animal remains were being exported to China and Japan. In this regard, cops seized three lorries containing animal meat and bones.

A scrap warehouse was also seized by the police where the vehicles stolen from Tamil Nadu were being dismantled and sold in Hyderabad market.

Speaking to media, DCP Satyanarayana said the cordon and search operation was carried out following the alert given by the central security agencies about the possible terror strikes in Hyderabad.
