The incident occurred at Sri Sai Akanksha Filling Station near Narketpally town on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway, police said.

The speeding Maruthi Ritz car knocked down the 65-year-old farmer when he was crossing the road. Such was the impact that the man flung into air and fell on top of the vehicle.

Shocked driver fled from the spot with the car after the incident but did not notice that the body of the victim was struck on the top of the car. Some people, who noticed the body on the vehicle, forced it to stop near Aitipamula, about 10 km from the accident site.

The victim was identified as Komaravelli Venkata Reddy (65), a resident of Narketpally village in the district. Receiving the information from the local people, Kattangur police reached the place and took Rahseed and another person who was travelling in the car into custody. In the inquiry, the duo confessed that they were going to Suryapet from Hyderabad.
