They made an effort to pull the machine out of ATM centre using a metal rope by tying it to a mini truck. The ATM centre is located opposite to St Alphonsus’ High School on Devarakonda road, one of the busiest roads in the town.

The police suspect three to four members might be involved in the robbery and that the incident could have taken place in between 3 am and 5 am. They tried to detach the machine from the floor during which the upper part of the machine was damaged. However, the amount in the ATM is safe as they failed to open the lower part.

As the robbers failed in their effort, they escaped from the scene leaving the truck on the spot. The last transaction in the ATM occurred at 2.48 am as a customer withdrew Rs 200 by using his ATM card indicating that the theft attempt was made after 2.48 am. The truck owner Khaleemulla Khan, who parked his truck at Lakshmi theatre, found at 8 am that his vehicle was missing and suspected that it was stolen after seeing glass pieces of the vehicle on the ground.

When he was getting ready to lodge a complaint with the police, he got the phone call about the identification of his vehicle. Nalgonda Town-I police received information about the incident at 8 am. They rushed to the spot and took up probe. According to the police, the CCTV cameras installed at the ATM centre were not working for the last two weeks. However, the police got crucial clues at the spot to crack the case.
