Mahbubnagar: The district police on Tuesday busted a six-member gang allegedly involved in hunting and killing animals, including a deer, near the forest at Pathalchedu village under Narva mandal. The deer was trapped around midnight on Monday. The gang was arrested by the Devarakadra and Atmakur police. The police at first found a four-wheeler used by the gang members.

Based on information given by the villagers, the police formed two teams under the leadership of Gadwal DSP Balakotayya. District Superintendent of Police Vishwaprasad told the media that the police on a tip-off laid a trap and arrested the alleged poachers. The arrested were identified as Ahmed Hussain, Ahmed Firdoz, Abdul Razak Hussain and Zamir of Hyderabad, Fiyazuddin and Gunditi Anand of Rayakod village.

A single barrel rifle, 33 rounds of bullets, a knife, a four-wheeler and a tractor, seven cell phones and Rs 1 lakh were seized from the gang. The villagers on noticing killing of animals by the gang on the outskirts and informed the police so as to prevent recurrence of such incidents. The police said the arrested persons were also involved in the killing of animals in the past. The SP stated the gang members were being interrogated. He presented rewards to the police personnel for busting the gang.
