In a major catch, the Hyderabad unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested the State Boilers Department Director M Vijai Kumar for possessing disproportionate assets and seized property worth Rs 12 crore from him, including Rs 5.94 lakh cash. 

Hyderabad: In a major catch, the Hyderabad unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested the State Boilers Department Director M Vijai Kumar for possessing disproportionate assets and seized property worth Rs 12 crore from him, including Rs 5.94 lakh cash.

The market value of the seized properties could be as high as Rs 40 crore, according to ACB officials. On credible information, the ACB sleuths had booked a case of disproportionate assets against Vijai Kumar (55) and searched his residence at Begumpet, office at Nallakunta and his son’s office (Divya Shakthi Softtech) at SR Nagar and a relative’s residence at Kothapet.

ACB Director General AK Khan, in a note, said during the searches two houses at Alkapuri and Nallakunta, worth Rs 60 lakh, two flats and a pent house at Kavuri Hills worth more than Rs 1.4 crore.

Besides these, three plots at Nallakunta, Alkapuri and Adibatla worth Rs 26 lakh, five acre agriculture land near Outer Ring Road in Adibatla, Pasumamula and Ibrahimpatan, all worth Rs 20 lakh were founded to be in the possession of Vijai Kumar.

Also it was found that a company was owned by his wife and son at SR Nagar and they had Rs 5.94 lakh cash, fixed deposits of Rs 6 lakh, household articles worth more than Rs 15 lakh, two cars worth Rs 12 lakh.

The total value of the assets was more than Rs 3 crore and the market value of the unearthed properties could be as high as Rs 12 crore, the DG said adding that the arrested officer had been sent to judicial custody and investigation was on.
