​Hyderabad: The city police on Thursday arrested six persons, including a minor boy from Bihar, on charges of stealing valuables from passengers at railway stations by diverting their attention.

According to the police, the prime accused Hari Om Kumar (28) leads 11 persons, all from Bihar. They were all residing in Delhi and doing petty jobs. They formed a gang and hatched plan to steal bags from passengers.

They identify the innocent passengers and approach them on the pretext of confirming the train ticket of their journey.

The gang targeted public at major railway stations. As the passengers would be worried about the train leaving the railway station, many victims did not approach the police.

So far, they have committed 14 offences, including seven in Secunderabad railway station, of which only two were reported at the Gopalpuram police station.

“The team has arrested six persons on Thursday in Secunderabad and recovered Rs 23,000 cash, 1,400 Riyals and 12 mobile phones from them. Search for other six persons is on and they will be nabbed soon,” said North Zone DCP B Sumathi in a press note here.
