6 killed, 9 injured as truck runs over devotees
Six persons were killed and nine others were injured at Thukkuluru village of Nuzvid mandal in Krishna district on Thursday morning when a speeding truck ran over a group of 20 devotees standing on the roadside as their vehicle developed a problem.

The victims, mostly daily workers, were on their way to Goddess Gubbala Mangamma Thalli temple at Aswararaopet forest area in Khammam district.
They were waiting on the road, when one of the two vehicles they were travelling gave trouble near Nuzvid. While six devotees died on the spot, nine others were rushed to Nuzvid Government Hospital with serious injuries.
Nuzvid town station Thotapet area daily workers were travelling in two vehicles from their home town and one vehicle got struck at Thukkuluru village. The vehicle driver stopped his vehicle on roadside for repairing, while the second vehicle also stopped near same spot but they failed to rectify the problems in the vehicle.
Unexpectedly, the group was hit by the speeding lorry. The lorry was going towards Hanuman Junction from Nuzvid town. The deceased were identified as Guram Srinu (28) Chinna Venkateswara Rao (70) Veeraiah (40) Srinu (35) Rani (20) and Kishore (18). The lorry driver fled from the scene, leaving the truck behind.
