Hyderabad: A gang of five Nigerians and an Indian woman was held for indulging in drugs and human trafficking.

In a joint operation, a team of Rachakonda, LB Nagar and Jawaharnagar police apprehended Palaparthi Sangeetha, 35 years, resident of Bandlaguda and native of Vijayawada, and five Nigerian nationals.

While two of foreigners were students of Nizam College, three others continued to stay in India after expiry of their visa. One of them had already served imprisonment in Goa for overstaying.

The police team seized 20 grams of cocaine, 12 grams of brown sugar, 39.8 grams amphetamine tablets and pieces, 1.675 kg of ganja and Rs 2 lakh cash from their possession.

According to police, on a tip-off Sangeetha and John Okorie were arrested with 3 grams of cocaine and 200 grams of Ganja respectively at LB Nagar bus stop. During their interrogation, Sangeetha revealed that in January 2017, she came in contact with Nigerian drug-peddling gang operating in Hyderabad through one of her common friend.

She and Ojuku Cosmos, another Nigerian became good friends and took one flat Sadath Enclave, P&T Colony, Bandlaguda, Sun City under Rajendranagar police station Limits.

Ojuku Cosmas, who came to India in 2012, continued having connections with drug peddlers operating in Goa, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. He was selling each gram of cocaine and brown sugar for Rs 20,000 rupees per gram to customers.
