Eluru: The prestigious Gautama Buddha theme park coming up in the local Gajavallivari tank will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Tourism Chiranjivi on April 7, disclosed District Collector Dr Vani Mohan. The Collector visited the park on Thursday to give final touches to the project. The park is the brain child of Dr Vani Mohan. She had taken special interest in the planning and execution of the project for the past one-and-half years. The citizens of Eluru will have a recreation facility once the park is thrown open for public after April 7. The district administration wanted to develop it as a tourist spot in the long run. Three boats were acquired for boat ride in the tank. The Disrict Collector has suggested to the Municipal Commissioner to keep life jackets ready for boat riders as a security measure. Various avenue trees that provide shade, colourful plants and flowering plants were already planted in the park giving a green cover . The park has been provided with ultra modern lighting arrangement at a cost of Rs 8 lakh to attract crowds. Dr Vani Mohan has directed the authorities to provide solar lighting in the park and save energy. She personally supervised the walking track and various facilities being provided for children's recreation. She has directed the officials to complete the works by April 3 at any cost and fill the tank with water for boat ride . Municipal Commissioner G Nagaraju, Superintending Engineer Yohan, Executive Engineer Prasad among others accompanied the District Collector.
