Union Culture Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch, who hailed from Rajasthan, migrated to Himachal Pradesh. After the Congress lost power in Himachal Pradesh in the Assembly elections in 2007, she returned to Rajasthan to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2009. Emerging victorious, she went on to become the Union Culture Minister. Chandresh Kumari, as Culture Minister, managed to get 6 Hill Forts of Rajasthan inscribed on World Heritage List, repaying her debt of gratitude to Rajasthan that gave her a fresh lease of political life, leading to her elevation as Union Minister.

Chittorgarh Fort is one of the six hill forts of Rajasthan recently inscribed in the World Heritage List by the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO. The Hill Forts of Rajasthan had a serial nomination to the UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. These Hill Forts represent Rajput military hill architecture, which are exceptional examples of centres of Rajput power and control, are reflections of courtly culture and patronage of arts and music and their mercantile business. Rajasthan remains the preferred destination for tourists as the state has everything a tourist looks for. Though a desert state, Rajasthan has a Garden City in Jaipur, Lake City in Udaipur and a hill station in Mount Abu, while there is vast stretch of deserts, running through Jodhpur, Barmer and Jaisalmer.
