Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has again insisted that the second year intermediate examinations for students of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state should be held jointly.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh State Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the State would press for common intermediate examinations for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states. He said fears were expressed from several quarters following statements from TS Ministers that separate examinations would be held in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The minister said any such measure would hurt the interests of the students of Andhra Pradesh. He said he would discuss the issue with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and urge him to take up the matter with his TS counterpart. It may be mentioned here that a meeting between the Education Minister of Telangana and the HRD minister of Andhra Pradesh ended in a stalemate. While the Telangana State wants to conduct a separate examination for intermediate students from the current academic year, AP wants that a common examination should be held as the first year examination was conducted jointly for the students of both the states. Any changes at this stage would go against their career interests, the minister added.
