Vaageshwari College of Engineering students studying Second-year have created a portable power saver called ‘Portable Mains Automatic Switch Device’ that can save power while charging electronic gadgets and home appliances.


Participating in a two-day workshop on automatic main-switch devices, one of the participants, K Ambika said that the device can be used for power saving when charging a mobile phone, audio player as well as a camera.


Another student, M. Bhavani stated that the device is ready to release in the market if an investor comes forward for manufacturing it. Such devices are the need of the hour for saving electricity as Telangana is witnessing power crisis.


The head of the department, K. Chandramouli said that a total of 60 students attended the workshop and the students had earlier making automatic traffic priority for ambulances for which they won a prize. Other students who were part of the workshop, N. Manideep, P. Srikanth and R. Spandana said that they were able to learn to apply the theoretical knowledge through the involvement in the designing process of the device.
