The students must aware of the Constitution and the government policies to lead a business organization, said Dr. P. K. Mohanty, retired IAS officer and former Chief Secretary to undivided Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at the round table conference organized on “Converging Public Policy and Business Management: Imperatives and Challenges” at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Hyderabad, Dr Mohanty said it was imperative for students to follow the government policies to take decisions accordingly to run a business organization.
Dr. K. Lakshminarayana, retired IAS officer and Director, Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation, said the policy makers should also consider the requirements of the business organization before making policy decisions. For instance, the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) were a huge success in China. But the same SEZs did not yield expected results in India.
The panelists exhorted the student community, not to concentrate only on wealth creation. It was their responsibility to cater to the needs of the society. They advised the students to improve their knowledge by reading books and learning new languages. The budding managers should also aware of the Constitution and thoroughly upgrade their knowledge by studying government policy decisions.
They further said that the future of students would depend on the government policies and law in the business environment. The business professionals should aim to work towards the welfare of the society rather than focusing only on gaining profits.
