GHMC cleans Hyderabad Mosques for Ramzan

Hyderabad: Mayor Majid Hussain directed GHMC's health and sanitation officials to clear the garbage near mosques during Ramzan season. The Mayor informed the corporators that GHMC will be taking up a special drive.

The Mayor said money to the contractor engaged in garbage lifting would be paid only after the corporator concerned certified that the garbage in his ward is cleared. He also urged the corporators to send their proposals for arrangements to be made for Ramzan.

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar directed the officials concerned to ensure the maintenance of approach roads and the street lights. The Zonal Commissioners were asked to make special arrangements for garbage lifting in and around the mosques. The Commissioner asked the corproators to give proposals for long and short term works.

The Commissioner said that as much as Rs 164 crores was paid towards electricity charges, Rs 12 crores to labour and Rs 12 crores to the materials every year. He directed the Additional Commissioner (Electrical) to verify each and every electrical pole in view of ensuing rainy season in order to prevent possible accidents.
