The robust flavours of Mexico. Mexican food has a special place in the hearts of Indians. This is due to the robust flavours and liberal usage of chillies (spice) and tomatoes (as a souring agent) that are so familiar to the Indian palette.

Chef Eduardo Perez from Yucatan in Mexico brings to La Cantina restaurant at Novotel Hyderabad, a Mexican Food Fiesta. The fiesta features a set menu each day for dinner with specially chosen items to represent the wide variety available in Mexican cuisine. The minced meat and almond studded Empanadas are very good- Crisp outer covering with a mild spicy stuffing also made with a corn filling for vegetarians. A salsa made with chargrilled tomatoes, onion, garlic and chillies of course, is unlike anything you have eaten before. It makes for a worthy dip with the empanadas.
Cascaras de Papa - cheddar and sour cream stuffed potatoes, baked and fried. The soft crisp buttery potato and the creamy with a slight tang filling of cheddar and sour cream is delicious. Mexican food has a huge repertoire of full bodied soups. Choose from the spicy Consome de Borrego (lamb and tomato), Sopa de Champignon (Mushroom soup) or the Shrimp broth which is a must try for all seafood lovers. There are the familiar Tacos and Burritos too.
For the main course, the Pescado al Pastor (Fish) oregano, garlic and chilli marinated fillet of fish steamed and served with sauteed vegetables and a simple tomato and onion salsa is a must try or the beef steak in chipotle sauce. The peanut sauce based chicken served with herbed rice is also worth a try and is reminiscent of a rich curried chicken preparation.
For dessert, the Camote en Tacha - sweet potato stewed in cinnamon flavoured jaggery syrup served with icecream is divine. The Crepes de Cajeta - caramel filled crepes topped with nuts is a dessert worthy of the calories. For something less sugary, try the Cocadas which are coconut cookies.
