Amalapuram MP Harsha Kumar’s son GV Sri Raj is preparing ground to contest for the Assembly from P Gannavaram constituency of Konaseema in East Godavari district. With Sri Raj entering the fray, Harsha Kumar will be joining the likes of Union minister MM Pallam Raju, Jyothula Nehru, Boddu Bhaskar Ramarao, Chirla Jaggireddy, Nallamilli Mulareddy, Adireddy Appa Rao, Chaitanya Raju, MS Chakravarthi, Pantham Gandhi Mohan, Parvata Chittibabu, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Pilli Sattibabu who have brought political heirs. Harsha Kumar, who was elected to Parliament twice from Amalapuram, is also running a chain of educational institutions. Though Sri Raj is looking into the affairs of these institutions, the changed political scenario has thrown open an opportunity for him to make an early entry into politics. While his father is contesting for the Amalapuram MP seat on former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Jai Samaikyandhra Party, Sri Raj has opted for the P Gannavaram Assembly seat from the same party.
It is said that Kiran had agreed to Sri Raj’s candidature when Harsha Kumar brought it to his notice recently, as the MP has been playing an important role in the party affairs since its inception. Sri Raj said he was contesting to the Assembly following the instructions of his father and the directives of party president Kiran Kumar Reddy. He said he would use his intelligence and education for the development of the constituency. Sri Raj is already playing an important role in youth politics. It remains to be seen whether the people of Konaseema would support the young leader.
