Cheapest Jaguar launched for Rs.45.12 lakh, There are no changes made to the mechanicals and the cheapest XF sedan gets the same engine and gearbox combo like the XF 2.2L Diesel Luxury.

In a bid to increase its footprint in the Indian luxury car market, Jaguar today announced the launch of a new edition of its current entry-level offering, the XF sedan. Launched only as a diesel variant, the new XF Executive Edition sports the 2.2-litre engine, which until now could only be found under the hood of the Luxury version that costs Rs 49.38 lakh (ex-showroom) in Delhi. The latest edition has been priced at INR 45.12 lakh (ex-showroom, pre-octroi) in Mumbai making it the cheapest Jaguar you can buy in India right now.

Cheap’ sounds like a misnomer here actually when you are talking about a segment where there are cars like this one along with the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, and Mercedes E-Class. Nevertheless, the XF has become more accessible now. But in the process, in the Executive Edition guise, it has lost out on some of the features of the Luxury XF like the Rearview Camera, Memory Function for the driver seat and mirrors, Front Passenger Seat Away button, and Sunroof among a few others.

Thankfully, the more crucial features have not been skipped such as the Navigation System, Full Colour Touch Screen, Jaguar Smart Key System with Keyless Start, Electronically-adjustable Front Seats, Power-folding ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors), and Interior Mood Lighting to name a few.

There are no changes made to the mechanicals and the cheapest XF sedan gets the same engine and gearbox combo like the XF 2.2L Diesel Luxury. The motor is good for 188 bhp at 3,500 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. All that power and torque is sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission – a standard fitment across the XF range in India.

Jaguar claims a 225 km/h top speed for the XF 2.2L Diesel and also a fuel efficiency figure of 16.3 km/l. A tank capacity of 68 kilometres means no stopping for fuel for around 1,000 kilometres under ideal conditions.

Jaguar Land Rover at present has a network of 21 dealership outlets across 19 cities in India, and the Tata-owned company intends to increase those numbers substantially in times to come.
