Sandhya Rani Palaparthy, a budding writer, hails from a family of noted writers like Kanuparthy Varalaksmamma and Palaparthy Rama Prasad. So writing comes naturally to Sandhya who penned her first Telugu book 'Vijetalu Jeevitha Poratamlo' in 2012.
The book is an anthology of the differently-abled who have carved a niche for themselves and have excelled in their respective fields despite physical limitations. The book features 33 people including ace danseuse Sudha Chandran. The book garnered much appreciation which prompted Sandhya decided to translate the book in English.
The book is titled 'Winners in the Struggle of Life' and is translated by S M Krishna and will be launched on June 4. Each story in the book has been documented well in simple language and captures the essence and symbolises the human spirit.
Before venturing in to writing Sandhya has worked as freelance journalist for various vernacular dailies and magazines. She has penned around 750 journals and is active in social service. When asked what motivated Sandhya to pen this book, she says, "In recent times many young students in their teens who are blessed with perfect organs are taking extreme steps of committing suicide for frivolous reasons.
On the other hand we are witnessing many differently-abled children trying hard to achieve success despite their limitations. So this inspired me to write about specially-abled people which will motive youngsters to not give up on life."
Sandhya shares that though hailing from a writers’ family, which consists of journos and writers, she never thought that she will write a book in her life. "I used to note down in my diary all the pranks of my daughter when she was young.
I shared those writings with my friends and they encouraged me to become a writer and that is how I freelanced for various publications and eventually this book came about," Sandhya recalls. Sandhya says that she is planning to come up with a sequel for this book.
"I have already started working on my second book. This book will feature a few personalities from India and our two Telugu States. Around 50 per cent of book is completed and I hope to release it by year end," she shares.
