People in the city can sight a smiley emoticon in the sky today. Thanks to the celestial drama, moon in conjunction with Venus and moon in conjunction with Jupiter will occur. This celestial get-together leads to the smiley like emoticon. Due to this wonderful celestial alignment of Moon, Venus and Jupiter will form skewed ‘smiley face’ emoticon. Moon, Venus and Jupiter together will appear like face with eyes and mouth.

Anyone looking West after sunset on today will be able to spot Venus below crescent moon and Jupiter above crescent Moon. Explaining the occurrence, N Raghunandan Kumar, founder secretary, Planetary Society, India said, “Conjunction is a term used in positional astronomy.
Two celestial bodies appear near one another in the sky. Importantly, a day before and after people can notice one of the objects getting close or getting away after the celestial meeting.Planets are located at greater distance from earth and they themselves are separated by enormous distance. However, due to conjunction they appear near to each other in the sky.”
On July 1 at 1.21 Noon IST one of the splendid celestial phenomena “Venus in Conjunction with Jupiter” will occur for us to see after sunset. In other words both Jupiter and Venus will appear to be near each other as seen from Earth.
The last time this event occurred was on 18th August, 2014 but in morning hours. However, after July 1, people can observe these planets start moving away from each other in the sky over next few days.
