Ramulu, an auto driver, has stopped commuting out of the East Anandbagh area as he gets a handsome amount by just plying people to nearby bus stops. Ever since the buses were diverted, people are forced to depend on autos to get to the next bus stop which is about 3 to 4 km.

Madhavi, a school teacher, says, “I take an auto to ZTS bus stop from Anandbagh every day twice, in the morning as well as in the evening. They charge as they like.” Auto drivers now stay put at Icrisat lane and ferry people up and down till ZTS bus stop. Kumar, another auto driver, said, “Why should I go into the city? These short drops are enough.

Moreover we have regular customers now.” Mallikarjun Rao, a software employee says, “It is very difficult for women. These auto drivers charge whatever comes to their mind. We are spending Rs 200 daily. When we had the bus service it was negligible. There is no regulation and something has to be done to stop the auto drivers from fleecing the public.”
