Commissioner Monitors City Hygiene

Guntur Municipal Commissioner, C. Anuradha, has expressed concern over the deteriorating hygienic conditions in the city: owing to the aftermath of the statewide strike by contract sanitation workers. In an address, she appealed to union leaders to extend their cooperation for maintaining the city’s cleanliness.

She said that although permanent sanitation workers were doing their best to clear massive garbage dumps, hundreds of slums and surrounding areas posed a threat for outbreak of a possible epidemic. She asked them to join ranks with regular employees in the best interest of people's health.

The commissioner also monitored garbage clearance and on-going road laying-extension works in Kopritapadu, Sakethpuram, Vasantharayapauram, Shyamalanagar,Brindavan gardens and other areas in the city.
