It\'s not so easy to stage a play. On the second day of the 20th State-level comedy playlet competition of Sumadhura Kalaniketan, three playlets were staged at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in the city on Saturday.
On the second day of the 20th State-level comedy playlet competition of Sumadhura Kalaniketan, three playlets were staged at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in the city on Saturday. Fine Art Theatres of Bapatla presented `Seethapathi’ playlet written by KST Sai and directed by PV Ramkumar. The playlet highlighted individual freedom and mutual dependence for the overall growth of a society.
Aarangetram’ playlet of Manch Theatre of Hyderabad showcased young talent. The playlet written and directed by B Srikanth depicted the difficulties faced by a cultural organisation in staging a play in a humorous manner.
Em Cheppanu Ela Cheppanu’ playlet of Murali Kala Nilayam from Hyderabad conveyed the message that one should enjoy the life in a good manner without opting for any shortcuts. It was written by Sankaramanchi Parthasarathi and directed by Tallavajhula Sundaram. The audience enjoyed all the three playlets.
Participating in the 42nd anniversary celebrations of Sumadhura Kalaniketan as a chief guest, Dr A Radha Krishnam Raju, president of Telugu Vignana Vedika, Bangalore, said humour was the best medicine to cure psychological problems. Film director C Umamaheswara Rao lauded the efforts of Sumadhura Kalaniketan to promote the stage art by organising the playlet competitions regularly.
Film actor Pollapragada Janardhana Rao (Jenny) of Canada said he had been attending the three-day annual event of Sumadhura Kalaniketan for the past 15 years without fail, fascinated by the devotion of the cultural organisation to promote the stage art.
Later, the Radha Kumari Memorial Award was presented to noted stage artiste Lakshmi. Samanthapudi Narasaraju, Raavi Kondala Rao, Dr N Murali Krishna, Naidu Gopi, senior artiste T Madhukumar, drama critic Rama Koteswara Rao and others were present.
