War veterans and Veer Naris (widows of defence personnel), were honoured at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of 1965 Indo- Pak war on Thursday. The programme was organised by 1 EME Centre.
War veterans and Veer Naris (widows of defence personnel), were honoured at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of 1965 Indo- Pak war on Thursday. The programme was organised by 1 EME Centre.
Important highlights of the event include a photo exhibition on the war, presentation of cash awards, gifts and certificate of appreciation to the Veer Naris. Some of the veterans also shared their experiences with the audience present at the occasion.
Brig MR Nath (Retd), recalling his experience, said, “During the war I was injured after a splinter pierced an inch through my helmet into my neck. However I was lucky to survive as first aid was given to me immediately.”
As part of these commemorative events, Headquarters Telangana and Andhra Sub Area also organised two blood donation camps to mark the victory in 1965 War. During these camps, volunteer soldiers donated blood for the poor and needy.
The military hospitals located at Secunderabad and Golconda played a lead role in organising these camps. In yet another programme, school children of various Army Public Schools in the city were given insight of the 1965 War by organising screening of movies and conducting lectures on the war by representative officers from local Army Units.
