The festive season is a time to look and dress one’s best. It’s certainly not the time when you want dry skin or that little annoying pimple to ruin all your Facebook and Instagram photos!

The good news is that there are some ways to maintain a skin care regime at home, that ensures glowing, radiant skin. Dr Aparna Santhanam, Vaseline Skincare Expert shares her tips:

Follow the ABC approach to beautiful skin this festive season.

A: Avoid all syrupy, overly sweet desserts like Gulab Jamuns, Malpua etc. Opt for tasty healthy variants like rasgolla squeezed fully, date and fig sweetened desserts and one piece of nut based sweets such as those made of almonds and cashew nuts.

B: Body lotion is your biggest beauty saviour. Apply body lotion with ingredients such as cocoa butter and glycerin to bring out your skin’s natural glow.

C: Clean your skin off all make-up before going to bed at night. Use a moistening lotion with aloe vera on cotton to erase the heavy make-up, and then use a mild cleansing lotion to clean your face and body make-up.

Choosing the right moisturiser: Look for ingredients which act at multiple levels such as dimethicone and glycerin which have moisturising and humectants properties to lock in moisture and leave the skin supple and beautiful for long periods. If your skin is already tending from normal to dry, look for more lightweight ingredients like aloe vera which will moisturise your skin and not leave it sticky.

A quick-fix for dry skin: One of the quickest instant fixes - wet the dry part slightly and apply the good-old reliable petroleum jelly in the wet area in a moderately thick layer for at least 15 minutes. Wipe off the excess and rub the rest gently into the skin after 15 minutes. Repeat this about thrice a day.

Post-festive season: Bring discipline back into your life - go off sweets completely. Use minimal make-up and continue using a mild cleanser with a moisturising lotion with ingredients like cocoa butter and aloe vera.

These tips are guaranteed to keep your skin party-ready and looking fabulous for in those low back blouses.
