Workshop on noise pollution today

Institute of Speech and Audiology (a unit of Sweekaar Academy of Rehabilitation Sciences, Secunderabad) will be conducting a two- day workshop on ‘Noise: Audiological Perceptives and Its Impact on Health’ on Friday and Saturday.

Experts from various medical and rehabilitation fields will be speaking on the topics like effect of noise on auditory as well as non auditory systems like, psychological, ENT and cardiovascular; laws for the professionals working in the noisy environment and management of problems caused due to noise exposure.

“This workshop will enable audiologists and related professionals to develop expertise in the assessment and management of the noise related problems. Noise has adverse effect on hearing and other domains of health like mental health, ENT and cardio-vascular systems. In our daily life we confront noise from various sources such as traffic, industries and loudspeakers. Firecrackers in the festivals like Deepawali, Christmas and New Year celebrations further add to the noise and the problems associated with it,” informed an organiser.

Nearly 200 delegates from various parts of country are expected to attend the workshop.
