Hyderabad: Telangana State Roads and Buildings department has prepared road map to take over the roads on the stretch of 20,000 km maintained by the Panchayat Raj department.

In the first phase, the R & B department identified some important roads connecting mandal headquarters, will be developed as four lane in the districts. In the second phase, roads connecting the villages will be widened for smooth flow of vehicular traffic.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, R and B Minister T Nageswara Rao said that the government in principle agreed to hand over panchayat raj roads to R and B department. In 2016-17 budget , required funds will be given to the R and B for the development and maintenance of the roads.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao gave his nod for the proposal put forward by the Panchyat Raj department recently.
The minister said the panchayat raj roads will be taken into the possession of his department in a phased manner as it required huge funds for maintenance as well as development of the roads.
