The ‘Paramparaa’s Gudi Sambaraalu’ temple dance festival is all set to kick-start even as preparations are in full swing. The festival will be held from January 30 to February 14 at Pitties Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, Shaikpet Road.
The ‘Paramparaa’s Gudi Sambaraalu’ temple dance festival is all set to kick-start even as preparations are in full swing. The festival will be held from January 30 to February 14 at Pitties Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, Shaikpet Road. Spreading cultural heritage through performing arts, this year’s festival will have celebrated film personality Namratha Shirodkar and Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy on the day of inauguration in the city.
Artist Shama Bhate will perform on the topic ‘Mahabharat Reinterpreted’ on January 30. The recital will be in different forms of dance such as Odissi, Kuchipudi, Mohini Attam, Kathakali, Bharatanatyam, Chhau and Kathak at the Pitties Sri Venkateshwara Temple. Noted Odissi artistes Surupa Sen and Bijayini will perform ‘Samyoga Songs of Love and Longing’ the following day.
A curtain-raiser programme with Sangeeta Nritya Kaikaryam will be something to look forward to come February. Renowned artiste Anupama Kaylash’s Vishwam Narayanam performance will be on February 6 at Warangal’s Thousand Pillar Temple.
One day short of the closing ceremony, on February 13, well-known Kuchupudi dancer Sandhya Raju will perform Margam, Kuchupudi dance at Ammapalle, Sri Rama Chandra Temple. The finale of the Gudi Sambaraalu will be held at the Birla Temple in Hyderabad on February 14 with a jugalbandi – a Hindustani vocal Carnatic flute performance by Krishnenda Wadikar and Dr Vijay Gopal.
