Hyderabad: With over 16,000 students from Telangana (Osmania University region) having applied for the Andhra Pradesh State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (Eamcet), the AP government has decided to set up two regional centres in Hyderabad.

These two regional centres are divided into Hyderabad zone-A, which includes Mehdipatnam, Towlichowki, Golconda, Langar House, Ibrahimbagh, Gandipet, Rayadurgam, Shaikpet and Gachibowli, and Zone-B that covers Kukatpally, Quthbullapur, Pragatinagar, Nizampet, Bachupally, Chandanagar, BHEL, Patancheru, Kandlakoya, Jeedimetla, Gandimaisamma, Dhulapally, Gundlapochampally and Dundigal.

Speaking to The Hans India, AP Eamcet Convener Ch Sai Babu said 1,10,000 candidates had registered themselves for the examination and the number was still counting. “The number of Telangana students appearing for AP Eamcet is likely to increase this year,” said Babu.

Candidates who have already submitted their applications and are inclined to change their regional centre have been asked to upload their options from March 2 to 4. They can make changes to their online applications between April 3 and 9.

While Hyderabad has regional centres for AP Eamcet, the Telangana government has decided not to have centres for Telangana Eamcet in Andhra Pradesh. TSCHE officials fear that if centres are arranged in AP, there may be chances of malpractices.
