Star World Premiere is definitely making up for the finale of its three big HBO shows – Game of Thrones, Veep and Silicon Valley which are not only fan-favourites but also Emmy favourites!
The channel, part of Star English Cluster whose shows have bagged maximum Emmy nominations, is back with its latest offering, ‘Vice Principals’ that is going to have the Indian audience in splits.
Set against a backdrop of a high school, the show delves into the tussle of two rather colorful vice-principals in their fight for supremacy.
The show features some of the most versatile comic actors in Danny Mcbride, who starred in Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder, Your Highness and This Is the End, Walter Goggins of The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained, Machete Kills, Lincoln, The Apostle, Chrystal, That Evening Sun, Miracle at St Anna, American Ultra and Predators fame alongside the talented Georgia King, who are set to set the stage on fire with their antics and rip roaring one liners.
Furthermore, comical legend Bill Murray makes a cameo on the show. The actor, who most recently voiced the fun and frolicking Baloo in The Jungle Book, is also winner of a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and two Emmy awards for his work over the span of 40 years.
Dannie McBride talks to Variety about on he got Bill Murray to do a cameo in the series. “I’d met Bill, I’ve done two movies with him and became buds with him. When we scouted Charleston, South Carolina for shooting, Jody and I were on the plane flying back to Los Angeles and when I sat down someone said our names. I turned around and it was Bill.
For the whole flight he talked us into shooting in Charleston, telling us how great the restaurants are, how awesome the city is. So when we decided to shoot there, we said, “He talked us into coming here, the least we can do is talk him into showing up on the show.”
I sent him an email asking if he’d be interested in checking out [the script], and he wrote back in a very Bill Murray fashion, “I would be very interested in checking this out. Please deliver a hard copy to the [Charleston] RiverDogs baseball game tomorrow night.
I will leave six tickets at the box office for you.” So we went to the game and brought the script. He took it off our hands and the next day he sent an email saying he “would be honored to play Principal What’s-His-Name.”
This hilarious show pits Neal Gamby played by Mcbide against Lee Russel (Walter Goggins), as they seek to one-up each other, with the ultimate prize of becoming the top dog at Lincoln High.
We witness their outrageous attempt to prove their worth and sabotage the other at the same time as the race heats up. This satiric comedy is sure to incite belly laughter from all its viewers. The series will premiere in India on Star World Premiere HD on July 19 from 10.30 PM.
