Karimnagar: Local MLA Gangula Kamalakar on Friday responded to the story carried by The Hans India/HMTV on the hardship being faced by the students of Ramnagar government school after being forced to stay in dirty water.

The school’s water supply was affected following the recent heavy rain inundating its ground and damaging the pipeline. The matter was taken to the district collector but she was busy with re-organisation of the districts. There was no response from officials to the woes of the students even after a month.

The situation turned worse when a drainage pipe nearby broken and the sewerage water entered into the school premises. Students suffered during mid-day meals, some were injured and fell into the filthy water.

Hostel inmates also suffered a lot. Water from the septic tank overflowed and entered into their rooms. Unfortunately, the conditions remained unchanged even after the Dasara vacation.

MLA Gangula Kamalakar was moved with the news aired by HMTV and published by The Hans India. He visited the school along with corporation officials on Friday.

The legislator pulled up the officials for their negligent attitude in failing to solve the problems of the students. He supervised the pipeline repair work spending his own funds and spent five hours on the school premises. Kamalakar thanked the THI/HMTV for bringing to light to the hardships being faced by the students.

While thanking THI/HMTV for highlighting the plight of the school children, the head master of the school Rajappa said that the official did not respond in time despite several requests.

They visited the school and accessed the situation but nothing done so far, he said. He expressed his happiness over the legislature’s response.
