Removal of poverty is my aim,” affirmed new district Collector E Sridhar in Nagarkurnool. Speaking to The Hans India, he asserted that the government had created new districts with an objective of rooting out poverty.

“To achieve this goal it is necessary to create jobs and for that it is necessary to have good education. Then alone is it possible to achieve cent per cent results in life’s endeavours,” he said.

The Collector called upon officers and staff to go around villages to create awareness among farmers on government schemes that are implemented for their welfare, besides self-employment avenues and promotion of horticulture plantations.

Equating government doctors with gods, Sridhar advised them not to be negligent in duty. He recalled conducting a surprise check in Achampet Hospital and initiating department action against three doctors after stopping their salary.

The Collector called for steps to repair irrigation sources in the district, so that lands lying waste could be fruitfully utilised for people’s benefit, and expeditious completion of pending irrigation projects.

The Collector stated that he had already issued instruction to officers and staff to be accessible to the public and undertake field visits to redress their grievances.
