Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) authorities will soon bring ‘Puzzle Parking’ facility in Nampally. It is an automated parking system where vehicles can be moved horizontally and vertically in the city.

Parking of vehicles has been an issue for vehicle owners as there is not enough space in the city for it.

To overcome the problem, the authorities will introduce the system near the Nampally Metro Rail station on an experimental basis. It would be 200m away from the Metro Station near the MRO office.

There would be a skyway from the parking place to the Metro Station. According to HMR authorities, Puzzle Parking is a fully automated system featuring combination pallets that enable horizontal and vertical movement of parking spots just like a puzzle to park and retrieve cars. It can be easily configured and customised to any property.

“Once the driver of the vehicle places his car over the platform, the operator presses the button and the car would be placed wherever there is place in the building.

The charges would be as per the time,” the HMR authorities said.

According to officials, puzzle parking would be constructed in an area of half acre with five storied building. Three floors would be used for parking and two floors for malls.

The officials said, at a time the facility can accommodate 250 four-wheelers. The ground floor would have two wheeler parking and the other three would accommodate four wheelers.

There would be six elevators in which five will be used for cars. This facility can be used not only by the Metro passengers but also by others by paying the prescribed fee.

The authorities have called tenders for this and are aspiring to complete the construction by the time Metro Rail gets ready.

Hyderabad Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy told The Hans India that the facility would be developed on public private partnership on BOT (built operate transfer) model.

“It has been taken on an experimental basis and once it is successful, it would be extended to other metro stations,” said Reddy.

He said that the existing facility was available in very few places in the country at New Delhi and Noida.
