Beedi workers demand cash payments

Nizamabad: The Telangana Beedi Workers Association-JAC demanded that payment s should be made to them under GO. No 41 and also payment in hard cash.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, the honorary president of TBWA-JAC Ramesh Babu said that as a majority of the beedi workers do not have bank accounts and were facing hardships, they cannot go in for cashless transactions by using debit cards and ATMs.
The TBWA-JAC also demanded that they be paid minimum wages of Rs 1,000 to all of the workers.
The workers said that all the provisions under GO No 41 should be implemented without fail. Women beedi workers should also be sanctioned six months of maternity leave.
