Warangal: The city Congress committee on Wednesday embarked on a week-long programme to enlist young voters in the electoral nominal rolls under Warangal (East) assembly segment. The city Congress committee working president and Warangal (East) in-charge Rajanala Srihari launched the programme at Mahaboobia Panjetan Degree College in Warangal. On the first day, nearly 200 voter enrollment forms were distributed to the students.

Speaking after launching the voter enrollment programme, Srihari informed that after filling up the forms (Form-6) they would be submitted to the local MRO seeking to enroll the new voters. The programme was taken up following the directions of the AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi.

He alleged that the TRS government has removed genuine voters in Hyderabad to win in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. Hence the Congress party cadres should be vigilant about such acts and enroll as many young voters as possible. The young voters in India were now rallying behind the AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi and want to see him as the next Prime Minister. In order to achieve the objective all Congress workers should make the voter enrollment programme a success, Srihari appealed.

The door-to-door visits would be made in the constituency to enroll young voters during the next one week, he added. The party leaders Manda Vinod Kumar, Kothapalli Srinivas, Md Ayub, Ch Venkateshwaralu, Siddam Naresh and others were present.
It might be noted that the state chief electoral officer has also directed the district officials to organise programme to enroll young voters who attained 18 years age marking the 7th National Voter’s Day celebrations to be held on January 25.
