He directed the officials to take all necessary steps to celebrate the festival on a grand note at Sri Raja Rajashwara Swamy Temple in Vemulawada.

The arrangements include 19 ‘chalivendram’ centres, 28 water coolers and 147 taps at 27 spots, 253 latrines, including 176 temporary, seven centres to provide primary health facilities, seven ‘may I help you’ centres and parking for VIPs, pilgrims, RTC buses, autorickshaws.

The officials were told to decorate the temple with lights and paintings along with special arrangements of devotional and spiritual cultural programmes, explaining about the temple’s importance to the people coming from distant places. Wide publicity should be given through print and electronic media and also through social media, he added.

Krishna Bhaskar said that RTC department will run mini buses to the temple, especially for disabled and aged persons. Medical facilities with ambulance services for emergency purpose will be set up on the temple premises with special medical team.

The Collector said tents would be erected inside the temple for the benefit of the pilgrims. Over 600 sanitation wing employees would be deployed to ensure that hygiene is maintained during the festive days. Road maps of the town would be displayed at important pathways to guide vehicle-users.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandrasekhar said strong ‘bundobast’ by deploying 600 personnel, arrangements would be made under the supervision of SP Vishwajeet for maintaining law and order and preventing any untoward incident. Among those to take up duty would be six DSPs, 19 CIs, 82 SIs, 225 ASIs, 512 constables, 542 home guards, including 44 women, besides 108 district guard police.

MLA Chennamneni Ramesh Babu said various devotional and cultural programmes will be organised in the one acre land allotted to the temple lake and Nampallygutta will be decorated with lights and paintings.

State Cultural Department Coordinator Mamidi Harikrishna said that the State government is making plans to celebrate Maha Sivaratri festival on a grand note to get recognition both at national and international levels.

They are also modernising the temple to get global attraction. Elaborate arrangements will be made for the devotees, who visit the temple not only from Telangana but also from neighbouring states for the two-day Maha Shivaratri Jatara to be held on February 23 and 24, Harikrishna said.
