On Friday, she visited Suryapet to examine the Green Day. District Collector Surendra Mohan, SP Parimala and other officials received her at Pillalamarri village of Suryapet mandal.

On her way to Suryapet, she examined the status of saplings along National Highway 65 and appreciated the efforts of district administration, particularly the Collector, for giving special attention to saplings in the name of Green Day. She felt that the programme became a source of inspiration for other districts.

As part of tour, she examined the plantation of fruit saplings near Suryapet area hospital and Sainikpuri Park.

Addressing the officials, she said it was the duty of everybody to save the planted saplings and expressed satisfaction over the participation of employees, NGOs, local body representatives and SHG groups in Green Day programme.

Informing that the government was paying money for watering the plants under NREGS, she said respect for the Haritha Haram would increase in commuters once they see the efforts taken by the officials to protect the planted saplings.

After participating in Green Day programme on the premises of SP office, Varghese inspected the nurseries at Gandhi Nagar and Vallabhapuram, run by DRDA and Forest department respectively.

During her visit to Gopalpuram Model Anganwadi centre, she planted a sapling on the premises and inspected the study and games material provided in the center by the district administration.

Municipal chairperson Pravallika, Suryapet RDO Mohan Rao, DFO Sunil, DRDO Kiran Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Surender and others participated in the programme.
