The call given by the All India Chemists and Druggists Organisation for medical shops bandh in protest against selling medicines online passed off peacefully in Karimnagar district on Tuesday. The owners of hundreds of medical shops in the united Karimnagar district participated in the bandh voluntarily, which held peacefully without any untoward incidents.
​Peddapalli: The call given by the All India Chemists and Druggists Organisation for medical shops bandh in protest against selling medicines online passed off peacefully in Karimnagar district on Tuesday. The owners of hundreds of medical shops in the united Karimnagar district participated in the bandh voluntarily, which held peacefully without any untoward incidents.
Speaking on the occasion, Chemist and Druggists Association district president Maduri Vinod Kumar said the GST Bill introduced by the Central government and the online selling of medicines would bring several families running medical shops onto the road.
He demanded the government to withdraw the decision of selling medicines online immediately to save the pharma sector in the country along with the families, who depend on running small medical shops across the country.
In Dharmapuri, the owners of medical shops Merugu Srinivas, Vara Prasad, Sangi Rajendar and Gangadhar gave a representation to the local Tahsildar requesting to take initiation for bringing certain changes in the rules imposed by government and to withdraw the decision of permitting to sell medicines online.
In Peddapalli, Chemist and Druggists Association members L Bikshapathi, Aravind, Neelu, Prabhakar, Satish and Jaleel gave a representation to the local MLA Dasari Manohar Reddy and requested him to take the issue to the notice of the government and about the problems which the medical shops owners may face in future and to withdraw the decision of selling of medicines online.
Some patients faced problems with the medical shop bandh at a few places in the district but the owners of medical shops sold medicines, which are required urgently to them and shown their humanity.
In Mancherial, the bandh, organised by State medical shops union association demanding cancellation of online medicine sales, went peaceful here on Tuesday. Shop owners observed bandh voluntarily and also took out a rally in the town.
Speaking on the occasion, district medical union leader Sudhakar said that they were incurring loss due to online medicine sales. He asked the medical shop owners not to sell medicines without prescription. He advised the patients to purchase medicines at medical shops after doctor checks the prescription. Union leaders Murali and Ramesh were present.
