Ponnam to undertake fast for Medical college in Karimnagar
Former Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar announced that he will launch indefinite hunger strike from Saturday (August 5) at Indira Chowk in the city, demanding establishment of medical college in Karimnagar. He sought public support for his protest.

Speaking to the media at Vemulawada on Friday, Prabhakar alleged that the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, had promised the people of Karimnagar three years ago that he will establish a medical college in Karimnagar.
“KCR is forgetting that Karimnagar gave him the chance to re-enter into politics. Because of the support given by the people of Karimnagar during the initial stages of Telangana movement, KCR is now sitting in the Chief Minister’s chair,” he reminded.
Stating that the TRS is more interested in opening a medical college in Siddipet instead of Karimnagar and also taking necessary step in that direction, he warned that his indefinite hunger strike will be launched on the day, even the government tries to create hurdles.
The former MP criticised that the present MPs and MLAs were afraid of the Chief Minister and couldn’t remind him of his poll promises.
Meanwhile, Congress district president Katakam Mruthyunjayam speaking to the media at his residence in Karimnagar alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had deviated from his promise of setting up of a medical college in Karimnagar given to the Karimnagar people in in 2014.
He urged the party activists and people to participate in the indefinite strike in large numbers to teach the government a fitting lesson.
In Peddapalli, Congress leaders and representatives of NSUI and Youth Congress released a poster urging the party activists and people to participate in the indefinite hunger strike of the former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, demanding medical college here.
Party city president B Suresh Goud and NSUI and Youth Congress leaders Bandari Sunil Goud, Gangula Santosh, Jayadev, Kranthi, Bharath, Kumbam Santosh, Sadanandam, Raj Kumar, Surya Prakash, Ajay and Shravan were present along with others.
