Karimnagar: “Transform all schools into Swachh schools under the Swachh Bharat programme,” District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed ordered the officials of education department. He chaired a meeting with Mandal Education officers and Headmasters of the schools to discuss on organising ‘Swachh Bharat and Swachh Schools’ programme here at the Collectorate auditorium on Wednesday.
The Collector said that it is the responsibility of the teachers to guide the students to look after their personal hygiene. The teachers and the headmasters of the school must inculcate the good habit of washing hands before and after having meals along with washing the hands and legs after using the toilet among the students. Without maintaining personal cleanliness, the children are falling victims to contagious diseases. Many children across the world are dying due to diseases that spread through water contamination and the children mortality rate in India is more due to the spread of diseases through direct contact method, informed the Collector.
To make children understand about the importance of personal hygiene, paintings and pictures will be drawn on the walls of all schools along with the walls of all village panchayats, he added. The Collector also said that short films will be screened in all 62 government schools present across the district through projectors for the benefit of the children, explaining about the importance of hand wash and maintaining of personal hygiene.
The Collector ordered the Headmasters of the schools to collect the details of SC, ST, BC and Minority students studying in their schools, who are eligible for scholarships, before Dasara festival. The scholarship for girls is Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,200 is for boys.
