The 67th Independence Day celebrations were kicked off with the hoisting of the national flag by the Mayor at GHMC head office. While briefing about the developmental works, he said that GHMC has taken up widening of 22 major roads with estimated cost of Rs 201.71 crore and constructions of 3 new major roads with estimated cost of Rs 66.92 crore.
M T Krishna Babu, Commissioner, GHMC said that the government has made certain amendments in the GHMC Act such as enhancement of financial powers to the Commissioner, Standing Committee and General Body which enables speedy grounding of developmental works. The Commissioner has admitted that GHMC could not take up the works up to the satisfaction of public due to weather conditions during the last one month. He further directed the officials to work on war footing basis whenever there is a dry spell.
Water Board
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) celebrated the 67th Indian Independence Day with zeal and nationalistic fervour. J Syamala Rao, Managing Director, HMWS&SB unfurled the national flag at the head office of the Metro Water Board amidst the huge gathering of officers, staff members and representatives of the recognised union. Patriotic songs were rendered on the occasion.
He addressed the employees and exhorted them to dedicate themselves in the interest of the nation and paid tributes to all those leaders and freedom fighters whose sacrifices have brought us this freedom. He also observed that all the different wings of the board should be like a single family and work for the satisfaction of the customers.
I-Day at MLA Quarters
Dr S Raja Sadaram, Secretary Assembly hoisted the flag for the 67th Independence Day celebrations at old MLA Quarters along with others staff members.
Railway Police celebrate I-Day
Govt Railway Police, Secunderabad celebrated the 67th Independence Day in their office premises. S Chandra Sekahar Reddy, Superintendent of Police hoisted the flag. The event was attended by P V V Muralidhar, Razak, Upender, Lingeswar Rao, inspectors and other staff members.
Food Corporation of India
The Food Corporation of India, Regional Office, Hyderabad celebrated the 67th Independence Day at its premises. B Kalyan Chakravarthy, General Manager (AP Region) hoisted the national flag. On this occasion, FCI organised plantation of saplings throughout AP region in the premises of respective FCI depots situated in 35 locations in AP state. More than 500 saplings were planted by officers. Also FCI, AP Region has taken a new initiative to introduce computerisation of its operations in 14 of its own depots across the state. This initiative will substantially reduce paper work and improve the efficiency of employees almost three fold.
South Central Railways
South Central Railways celebrated the Independence Day at the Railway Sports Complex Grounds, Secunderabad. K L Pandey, Addl General Manager, SCR, unfurled the national flag and delivered the Independence Day message. K L Pandey insisted that the Railway Officials strive continuously to ensure satisfactory service to all customers. He also called upon the Railway officials to reawaken within themselves the noble ideas and values behind the freedom struggle which achieved freedom for our country. Cultural programmes were presented by students from Railway Schools and Colleges which enthralled the audience.
Nehru Zoological Park
The authorities at the Nehru Zoological Park (NZP) celebrated Independence Day with passion. The national flag was hoisted by P Mallikarjuna Rao, Director of Zoological parks, AP in the presence of entire zoo staff consisting of security, animal welfare, veterinary wing, landscape, housekeeping, stores and office administration staff.
The Director informed that the NZP is one of the best not only in India but in Asia. This has been made possible due to the untiring efforts of zoo officers and staff which have rendered excellent services.The zoo would be celebrating its Golden Jubilee in less than two months. He urged the staff to work with dedication for the celebrations. A Shankaran, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, P Samuel, Asst Conservator of Forests. NZP, Hanifulla, PRO and others were present on the occasion.
