“What is man, that Thou art mindful of him.” Trekking on the realms of commercial activity at Symphony Academy of Music (SAM) for the last 20 years, they found these commercial activities could not buy them the inner peace; it was not matching with the reflection of their self. There was a need to do something different, for the underprivileged and the needy.

A different journey began. The tirade began against the imbalance in the society to take a different path, to bring in a different concept to compete. Symphony decided to bring in colours to the eyes of the blind, to give the feel of music to the deaf, to bring joy, happiness to the destitute and the underprivileged. An attempt to create a society that exists in equilibrium.

The quest to make the dreams of the orphans, destitute and underprivileged began. They embarked on a journey were they selected 2014 orphans circumventing 50km radius of the twin cities. They unraveled the journey on June 8 which ended with a grand finale at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan on Sunday. The competitions were in different fields like singing, instrumental music, dance and drawing. To do justice to their inherent talent was difficult because each child’s performance was a trifle off-beat. But all could not be winners. Symphony Academy of Music wants to give a shape to their talent and support them to be winners at national and international levels.

The auditing and screening took place at SAM, Neredmet and Marri Krishna Hall at different dates and on Sunday a galaxy of leaders; stars and well wishers blessed these children of lesser gods at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan which would have left most of the audience in tears.
