On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on October 1, APSACS and State Blood Transfusion Council will jointly organise a rally to educate people on the benefits of blood donation. The rally starts at 8am at NTR Ghat and college students, volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra and members of NGOs are set to participate. Post rally, there would be a meeting at Ravindra Bharathi on the need for blood donation.
Walk to stay young at heart
In connection with the World Heart Day on Sep 29, Ozone Hospital took out an awareness walk ‘Stay Young At Heart Walk’ from Kothapet to Dilsukhnagar to sensitise the people about heart diseases.
Sudheer Reddy, MLA, LB Nagar, flagged off the walk at Ozone Hospital. Scores of students and youth participated in the walk and made it a success.
Speaking on the occasion, Sudheer Reddy stressed the need to create awareness on ‘How to get rid of heart diseases’. “Healthy diet and physical exercise would keep the people away from diseases, particularly a dangerous heart attack. People with the habit of eating junk food, fat food content and who had high mental pressure were vulnerable to heart diseases. Shunning bad habits would help protect people from diseases,” he opined.
Sudheer exhorted that corporate hospitals should take up awareness programs on how to prevent diseases as a social responsibility. Dr Jalapathi Reddy, managing director, Ozone Hospitals, said, knowing the symptoms of heart attack early would save precious lives of patients. He added that there was a need to create awareness among the public about symptoms of heart attack. Free cardiac health camp was organised at Ozone Hospitals and offered ECG service free of cost.
Abattoir ordered to close on Oct 2
MT Krishna Babu, Commissioner, GHMC has ordered for the closure of the modern abattoir at Chengicherla (sheep & goat, beef section) and the retail meat & beef shops within the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Oct 2 on the account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi.
62 complaints resolved at Prajavani
The weekly Prajavani programme held every Monday was conducted at 14 division offices located at various places of the GHMC area. Out of 104 complaints received, 62 were resolved on the spot. Nacharam had 100 per cent solvency rate with all the 10 complaints resolved. On the other hand in Saheb Nagar only 1 complaint of the 9 filed was resolved.
Unauthorised construction removed
The deputy commissioner, Circle-12, Serilingampally has informed that the owner of the commercial building at Chandanagar i.e., Plot No. 90, United Chamber, has an unauthorised constructed in the cellar parking area and people were parking their vehicle on the road margin which caused traffic congestion. The town planning officials have removed the same and restored the parking area on Monday.
