Vehicle Tracking System in Cyberabad Commissionerate

After the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), the Cyberabad Commissionerate has now installed the Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) into its vehicles. The VTS runs on GIS and GPS. The patrolling vehicles would be fitted with GPS and GIS devices, which are tracked by a satellite, sending the location to the server at the commissionerate and then to the control room.

“VTS helps in reducing the response time of the unit. Once we get a call to control room regarding any incident, we can track our vehicles and route the message to the nearest patrolling vehicles through wireless sets,” shared an official. Speaking to Hyderabad Hans, Avinash Mohanthy, DCP (traffic) Cyberabad said, “On a trail run basis, we have installed VTS on four patrolling vehicles. This helps in reducing response time. We would install the same to the five special vehicles which patrol the Outer Ring Road (ORR). And, by the end of the month 70 vehicles would be equipped with GIS and GPS devices.”
