Students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) discovered water channels and numerous pottery shreds belonging to the Qutub Shahi period at Qutub Shahi Tombs recently.

Hyderabad: Students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) discovered water channels and numerous pottery shreds belonging to the Qutub Shahi period at Qutub Shahi Tombs recently. The students who have been attending a ten-day archeological workshop jointly conducted by H K Sherwani Centre for Deccan Studies, MANUU and Aga Khan Trust for Culture at the Qutub Shahi tombs, are being trained in locating archaeological site, establishing survey parameters, exploring the contents of the site, evaluating the data collected and documenting the findings.

“The purpose of the workshop is to introduce students to archeological methods and to teach them the past through hands-on involvement,” says, Prof. Salma Farooqui, Director, H K Sherwani Centre for Deccan Studies. K K Mohammed, a renowned archeologist, shared his experience with the students as he spoke about archaeology, exploration, human evolution, pottery types, bone analysis, etc.
