Railway week celebrations

The 60th Railway Week celebrations got underway with the inauguration of a photo exhibition of rail heritage at the Secunderabad Railway station on Friday. South Central Railway (SCR) general manager P K Srivastava highlighted the activities carried out by the zone last year.

The celebrations are held in commemoration of the first train run on Indian soil on April 16, 1853 from Boribunder to Thane. Since then, Indian Railways has come a long way off to earn the image of being the life line of the nation. As part of the Railway Week celebrations, 275 officers/staff from different divisions were given the general manager’s award and 58 efficiency shields were handed over to departments across the zone.
