Hyderabad: Congress MP and former Union Minister Renuka Chowdary here on Thursday expressed the confident that the Congress would win the GHMC elections with a thumping majority. Speaking to media persons here, she dare the TRS leaders to first put their resignation letters on the table before stating that they would resign for their posts if their party fared poorly in the elections.

Renuka Chowdary said Congress party had fared well in local body elections. In Himachal Pradesh Nagar Nigam elections, Congress had won more than 70 per cent of seats. The BJP was losing ground in most of the states in the elections for local bodies.

The Congress had reaped rich harvest even in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home State. The results in Panchayaths in 31 districts in Gujarath, the Congress won 594 and the BJP 367, of 230 Taluks the Congress captured 2,543 and the BJP 1,914, and out of 17 Nagar Panchayaths in Maharashtra, the Congress 107 and BJP 24.

She alleged that the ruling party had tacit understanding with not only MIM but also entered into seat adjustments with TDP-BJP combine as KCR still continued to dream of making his daughter and MP K Kavitha as Union Minister.

She said it was no secret about the “pact” between KCR and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. In response to confidence exuded by Minister for Panchayat Raj K Taraka Rama Rao that the TRS would win 100 seats in the GHMC elections, Renuka Chowdary dared the Minister to resign first before throwing a challenge to the Opposition.

She strongly objected to raising the bogey of “settlers” time and again. She said there was no restriction for any citizen of the country to live wherever he or she wanted to stay.
